A momentum score tells you whether a stock is worth watching. This tells you how much of it you can hold without the stop taking more than you intended.
Set the stop where the setup is wrong — below the base, the breakout level, or a multiple of ATR. Do not set it where the loss feels tolerable.
Two rules that do most of the work
Risking a fixed 0.5–1% per trade means no single momentum reversal ends the account. And when a stop is very tight, the share count rises fast — check the position weight before assuming a tight stop is automatically safer.
